A New Park in Watkinsville - The Playground of Possibilities
If you haven’t visited Harris Shoals Park in Watkinsville recently, you need to go check out the Playground of Possibilities. This all new inclusive playground was created by a private/public partnership between the City of Watkinsville and ESP (Extra Special People) along with help and donations from so many folks in our local community. The playground is next to the new Miracle League ball field and has covered picnic tables as well as restrooms and a part time snack shack. An ADA path leads from the parking lot of Harris Shoals Park and winds through a tree canopy to this new incredible playground situated by Watkinsville City Hall and behind the newly renovated gym at ESP.
Designed for fun for people of all abilities, I had a blast on the zip line and climbing through the play structures. We ran into a few families enjoying the playground even on this hot July afternoon. They bragged on how amazing it was and were grateful a friend had told them about it. Research repeatedly shows that when children interact with people of different abilities, there is an acceptance and appreciation of those differences. Not only is the play ground fun for all ages to play on, it gives everyone an opportunity to rub shoulders with people that may be different. In these lazy days of summer, I encourage you to find time to cool off in the shoals and then to experience this incredible playground. Check out photos of this amazing park below!
