Chops & hops

Chop's and Hop's is a nice local favorite with a large spirits menu. Chops has an open aired atmosphere with casual, as well as upscale dishes. Delicious daily specials, with many local food and beverage items.  Great burgers, cocktails and more! It's perfect for an evening date night or a casual meal out. You can also bring your pet with you if you eat on the outdoor patio. They will provide water bowls or them of you ask.

 

Girasoles

Amazing Fusion Cuisine and true fine dining. Run by acclaimed Chef Jose, he creates innovative meals with high quality ingredients. They also have an unbelievably good Sunday brunch. Chef Jose is almost always on hand to offer you a customized culinary experience.

 

Kiki’s BakeShop

Serving up the best scones we have ever tasted, this wonderful bakeshop located in the very heart of downtown Watkinsville is truly a treat. They serve something for any time of the day: muffins, desserts, fresh baked bread, cookies, chicken salad, pimento cheese, fabulous pies and to-die-for quiches.

 

Jittery Joes

An Athens original coffee chain and roasting company, Jittery Joes is the local hang out spot with great coffees and treats. Sip your mocha while writing your report or visiting with friends. Most of the time you’ll be doing both as you always run into someone you know. A small meeting room is available as well.

 

Traveling hobo

Offering generous portions of burgers, fries, sandwiches, salads and more! This tasty cafe is a favorite in downtown Watkinsville. Stop by for a burger, fried pickles and a slice of one of their unique and delicious cheesecakes.

 

White Tiger

An amazing restaurant with an eclectic menu in a groovy atmosphere. Perfect for lunch with coworkers, a date night, or a family outing. The pimento cheese is a must have and a great start to burgers, bbq sandwiches and of course the home fries. If you're there for brunch also have the bloody mary or mimosa. (Make sure you check out the bathroom and push that RED button!)

 

Mama Ning’s

Delicious, authentic Thai cuisine in downtown Watkinsville. Mama Ning's Thai serves Stir Fry, Fried Rice, Curries, and more. There are vegan and many gluten-free options available. The staff is knowledgeable and kind, and the food is delightful.

outpost oconee

This general store in downtown Watkinsville is a nod to country stores of the past. Outpost Oconee sells locally roasted coffee, hot chocolate, snacks, essentials for home and outdoor gear. Drop in, have a cup of coffee, and plan your next adventure.

 

Harris Shoals Park

This beautiful mostly wooded park on the shoals has picnic shelters, a playground, and gorgeous hiking trails. It’s a great place to have a picnic, take a hike or wade in the shoals.

 

Playground of Possibilities

Located right next to Harris Shoals Park, Watkinsville’s brand new Playground of Possibilities is designed for people of all abilities! This whimsical and fun playground was created in a private/public partnership between the City of Watkinsville and ESP (Extra Special People) along with the donations and help of much of the community.

 

Watkinsville Woods

A peaceful place for a shady walk or bike ride in the woods. Located in downtown Watkinsville, it is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and beauty.

 

EAGLE TAVERN MUSEUM

One of the earliest surviving structures in Watkinsville, the Eagle Tavern was built circa 1801 but possibly as early as 1794. This museum right in the heart of downtown Watkinsville depicts life and travel lodgings in the early 1800’s

 

The Oconee county arts foundation (ocaf) & rocket hall

OCAF promotes local art and artists along with offering workshops on painting and ceramics. This vibrant community has local art for sale, seasonal events, and excellent exhibits.

 

let it be yoga

Great Yoga classes for $5-10 donation in a renovated barn. Classes last 1-1.5 hr; yoga mats and other props are available for use.

 

Oconee Veteran’s Park

Oconee County’s Parks & Recreation Department is located in this expansive park and offers a sports complex that includes walking/running track, tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields, senior center, youth programs, a bark park, picnic area and more!

 

Heritage Park

Heritage Park is 364 acres of natural resources with woods and creeks, bordered by the Apalachee River. There are horse, mountain bike and walking/running trails. Be sure to check out the trail map available on their website

 

Farm 441

Offering locally made goods by artisans and companies in the U.S.A. Their homemade ice-cream is AMAZING! Farm 441 sells their own produce and plants along with curating a selection of everything from candles to planters to local soaps and so much more.
