What to DO
PIttard Park
This delightful park is located right in the center of downtown Winterville across from City Hall. Enjoy the park’s playground, basketball courts, walking paths, and nature trails. There are also 3 pavilions available for rent.
Firefly Trail
Ride or walk the firefly trail! Open sunrise to sunset, this community oriented trail is a wonderful way to have fun with a friend, stroll with your family, walk your dog and see some lovely historic towns in Georgia. There are scenic stops along the way providing water stations to refill your water bottles, picnic tables for a lunch stop, and air pumps in case your tire pressure is low.
Winterville Library
This delightful little downtown library hosts a weekly events such story time for children, day & evening book clubs. They also plan other community extras such as a beginners chess class for youths, occasional parties, and music events. Winterville Library is part of the Athens Regional Library System.
Front Porch Bookstore
This non-profit bookstore is run by Friends of the Winterville Library (FOWL) and operated by volunteers. Pick up your next read while supporting a wonderful local community. Front Porch also hosts an annual spring and fall concert series on the lawn.
Carter-Coile Country doctor’s museum
Take a step back in time to this historic 1874 doctor’s office and learn about the history of rural American medicine. See actual medical artifacts and learn more about how doctors and chemists made their own medications. This unique museum is one of the only museums in the country dedicated to telling the story of rural healthcare. Don’t forget to check out the botanical medicine garden before you leave.
Winterville Cultural Center
Walk to your next art lesson, chess club meeting or yoga class! The Winterville Cultural Center in Downtown Winterville offers so much: art classes, chess club, dog training, yoga, Tai Chi, Children’s Creative Theatre and more! Upstairs is the newly renovated cultural center’s art gallery which has its grand opening on June 15, 2024 from 2-5pm. Last but not least, you can rent space for your next event.
Marigold Auditorium
Another staple of arts & culture in Winterville is the Marigold Auditorium. This music and performance venue in the heart of historic Winterville has been recently restored and hosts many concerts and theatre productions as well as corporate events and weddings. On site parking is available and the venue can host up to 250 people.
Community Garden
This city sponsored garden located in downtown Winterville near Pittard Park is a collaborative endeavor that you can join to garden your own 8 x 4 bed alongside other gardens. Enjoy time outside while planting fresh pesticide-free produce and herbs. It’s a wonderful opportunity for fresh air, time in nature, community and so much more.
Marigold Market
Held in Pittard Park almost every Saturday from 10am-2pm, April - December and on Mondays from 9am-3pm in the historic bank. This farmers market is part of Marigold Collective, a local “nonprofit whose mission is to connect the Winterville and East Athens communities with fresh, affordable food, information on nutrition, support for local food producers, and an opportunity to distribute food abundance to the community.” (from their website) Stop by and enjoy local produce, meat, eggs, cooked food and artisan goods.

This sister restaurant to Big City Bread Cafe in Athens serves southern inspired food in a cozy atmosphere. All of their bread and pastries are baked onsite daily and they source many of their ingredients from local farms. They serve breakfast & lunch Tuesday-Friday and Brunch on Saturdays & Sundays. Outdoor seating is available.
